U is for Upside Down Salad

This is a part of our month-long Eating the Alphabet ProjectClick here to learn more about the book and project, and to see a list of all the recipes and activities.

Make eating a salad into an event by turning the preparation into an artistic endeavor. Use colorful foods and layer them in a clear bowl as if creating sand art. When diner time arrives turn the bowl over and your salad is ready.

Upside Down Salad

  • Clear bowl
  • Large dinner plate or serving platter
  • Salad ingredients

  1. Prepare salad dress of your choice. (try our Homemade Herb Ranch Dressing!) and drizzle desired amount into the bottom of the bowl.
  2. Chop or shred chosen salad ingredients and place them in the jar, one layer at a time. The final layer will be your greens.
